Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal and is considered to be the cultural capital of India. It has many charms to the travelers and at the same time has many shocks also. If you want to get to the other side of the Howrah River to reach Babu Ghat or Fairlie Place then you can take the ferries. Many colonial era buildings have been converted into hotels and some of them are in ruins due to lack of maintenance. You can also find budget hotels near Howrah railway station.
